DPG Independant from MPM

Wednesday, 21 March 2007

In close cooperation between mpm’s owner, and the board of Demag Plastics Group it has been decided to separate the Demag Plastics Group from the remaining mpm group and manage it independently.

There are many overlaps in the product ranges and addressed target segments between Krauss-Maffei, Netstal and Demag Plastics Group which cannot be easily eliminated and hinder the three companies’ ability to fully leverage their potential. The separation is a must.

There are three major reasons for a successful future of Demag Plastics Group:

  • “In the past 18 months we restructured the Demag Plastics Group, realignedprocesses, products and structures and thus put DPG on a solid foundation for asuccessful future. These changes already show a positive impact on our key financial figures.
  • The Demag Plastics Group is one of the leading toggle injection moulding machine producers, with a clear focus on small and mid-size machines. With our IntElect all-electric injection moulding machine and our successful packaging solutions, we are well positioned in this fast growing market.
  • In Europe we are the third largest IMM manufacturer, but also globally, we are very well positioned. We operate a well-established production site in China, the largest injection moulding market worldwide, as well as a joint venture in India. In addition, we have a good market position in the US.
  • From our point of view the decision to separate the Demag Plastics Group is an opportunity to further develop our business in the long term. We no longer have to take into account objectives and strategies of the other brands. We can fully implement our own strategy, focusing on our target customer clusters and provide them with a clearly structured product offering and specific application technologies.

This newly gained freedom will offer us more opportunities to develop our strengths in the global markets and to acquire new customers. It is guaranteed that we will stay a reliable partner for our customers today and in the future”, said Dr. Klaus F. Erkes,
    CEO of Demag Plastics Group.
